Disclosure Diaries Update #109
A summary of notable Disclosure updates from Oct 5-11, 2026
Hi. It's been a year.
The last issue went out on October 21, 2025. Then day-to-day work took the wheel and the weeks became twelve months without an update. That's on me. I kept the archive up the whole time, and from today the weekly is back in the usual format, with my usual modus operandi: neutral, sourced, nothing I can't link to.
If you want the year you missed in one read, I published that separately – The year I missed covers Oct 2025 to Oct 2026. It touches on everything from the February directive and the PURSUE file releases to the House passing the UAP Disclosure Act. This issue picks right back up where that one leaves off.
A note to paid supporters: you were billed for a year in which I sent nothing. I'll be refunding every charge from that period. You should have received an email from me about it, and there's nothing you need to do. If you paid during that period and didn't get that email, shoot me a note and I'll sort it.
This past week in Disclosure:
Oct 7 – NRC records list 67 drone reports over 28 US nuclear sites since 2024
Security event reports obtained from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission under FOIA by Liberation Times list 67 drone-related reports from 28 named sites in 17 states between February 2024 and March 2026. Every entry carries the status "Closed Unresolved". Coverage.
The densest cluster is Surry Power Station in Virginia, near Langley Air Force Base, in December 2024: multiple drones on Dec 3, one confirmed on radar at about 300 feet, and on Dec 17 an aircraft passing over both reactor containment buildings. Fort Eustis air traffic control told the plant there was no military drone activity in the area. One report notes:
"When the site turned their lights off, the drone did the same." – NRC event report, Surry Power Station, December 2024
Other entries include Hope Creek in New Jersey, where the FBI opened an investigation into drones described as "approximately the size of a small motor vehicle", Millstone in Connecticut, Three Mile Island in February 2026 and Byron in Illinois in March 2026. What the records don't contain: an identified operator for any flight, or a finding from the FBI, the FAA or the NRC. Plant security has no authority to intercept or shoot down aircraft, per the NRC's own fact sheet.
Oct 7 – Comer: Oversight will "try to pick it back up in November" on a UAP hearing
Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chair of the House Oversight Committee, told Ask a Pol that a UAP hearing planned for September was lost when House leadership cancelled the last two weeks of session. The interview was recorded on Sep 16 and published on Oct 7.
"They keep canceling days on us. So we were trying to do that in the third week [of September]... but [GOP leaders] canceled it. So we'll, we'll try to pick it back up in November." – Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chair, House Oversight Committee
Asked what the hearing would cover: "I don't know that we ever agreed on a topic." He pointed to Reps. Tim Burchett, Anna Paulina Luna and "Burlison more than anybody" as the members driving it, and added: "I'd like to have another one. I think there's demand for it. It's just getting good witnesses in is always a challenge." The committee's last UAP hearing was the Task Force session of Sep 9, 2025. Both chambers are out until after the Nov 3 midterms.
Separately, Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH), former chair of the House Intelligence Committee, declined to say whether he had looked at any of the Pentagon's released UAP files.
Oct 7 – John Herrington says he found nothing on UFOs in the Energy Department's programmes, and doesn't know what the Navy filmed
John Herrington, Secretary of Energy from 1985 to 1989 under President Reagan, gave a near two-hour interview to Jesse Michels of American Alchemy. Asked what he encountered at the department, which runs the national laboratories and the nuclear weapons complex:
"Well, we got a lot of rumors about what was happening in Area 51 [...] nothing about UFOs. Um and honestly, I did not during the time I was there come across anything in our budgets or in our programs that would lead me to have any knowledge in the UFO area." – John Herrington, former Secretary of Energy (18:52)
On the Navy gun-camera footage (19:28): "I frankly, Jesse, I don't know what they are. I don't know where they're coming from." And: "those gun camera films, uh, they they are not faked. Uh, in my estimation, the Navy would not do something like that." He said the propulsion implied by the footage is "not within our capability and it's not within the capability of any country that I know of."
He also rejected a story told by Dark Skies co-creator Brent Friedman, that Herrington had said in 1981 he'd seen aliens after a month in an underground facility: "We didn't go to secret places. I was working in the White House at a lower level. Uh so that's all a lie." (22:15) He said he would speak to Congress in a closed session if asked (93:00). Short clips of the interview circulated on X under headlines about unidentified objects over sensitive US facilities. The exchanges above are what he says about his own knowledge.
Oct 8 – RFK Jr. says a group claiming crash-retrieval experience approached him during the transition, and that he has had briefings since
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary of Health and Human Services, told Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) on his department's podcast that he was approached about UAP while living in Palm Beach during the 2024–25 presidential transition.
"it was a very high-level NASA scientist, and then a bunch of Navy SEALs and Green Berets who had been on recovery teams." – Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary of Health and Human Services (18:41)
He described what the group told him as "crazy": that they had worked out how to "call some of the ships in" and were then "under orders to destroy them and recover them", and said they wanted him to go public, which he declined given "so many counts against me on conspiracy theories". He didn't name anyone. Then:
"But I have had briefings once I got in there, and it's pretty – a lot of that stuff is really, really crazy." (20:13)
He gave no detail of the briefings. Luna, who chairs the Oversight Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, replied: "people will say a lot but can you prove it? What does the actual data prove, or can you actually bring forward tangible evidence?"
What isn't known: who the group was, whether anything they described has been reported to AARO or to Congress, and what Kennedy's briefings covered. The retrieval claims are the group's, relayed second-hand, with no document or named witness behind them. HHS posted the episode without mentioning the exchange.
Oct 8 – Michael Shermer, from inside the UAP Science Advisory Council: "no verifiable evidence" so far, and heavily redacted videos
Michael Shermer, founder of Skeptic magazine and a member of the UAP Science Advisory Council chaired by Avi Loeb, wrote in the Boston Globe that the council has met weekly by video since July to go through the videos, photographs and documents released under PURSUE.
"So far, in my opinion, we have found no verifiable evidence of contact with or discovery of extraterrestrial intelligence" – Michael Shermer, member, UAP Science Advisory Council
On the material: "The videos we're working with are filled with redactions in the form of blacked-out rectangles", leaving the council unable "to distinguish between a bird flying at close range and a large craft traveling at Mach 5 a kilometer away." His ask: "we need much more data from the government (if they have it) than they've been giving us."
Shermer calls himself the panel's devil's advocate and ranks the explanations in order of likelihood: ordinary causes first, advanced foreign technology second, and "extraordinary extraterrestrial" last. It's the first account from a council member of what the council has been given, and it matches September reporting that the council received videos but not the underlying sensor data.
